I gotta go where it’s warm!🌴😎

This morning I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I got cabin fever
Somebody sound the alarm
I’d like to go where the pace or life’s slow
Could you beam me somewhere, Mister Scott?
Any old place here on Earth or in space
You pick the century and I’ll pick the spot

I know I should be leaving this climate
I got a verse but can’t rhyme it
I gotta go where it’s warm!

Dos Leggos is cruising south friends! Taking spring break a little early and gotta go where it’s warm! Stay tuned as we explore state parks across and down the golden gulf coast of Florida.

Happy Christmas 🎄 Island 🌴🌴🌴

3DC3A4B5-78BE-4CE9-A60A-2F59E4182E16What a fun week at Edisto Island 🌴! Walking on the almost deserted beach, collecting shells and sand dollars, fishing, campfires, tall tale telling and gin rummy championships!

Edisto is a low country off season secret for any of you that want to slip away, semi off the grid! Best shell hunting since Nags Head as a child, a plethora of natural flora and fauna, our daily walks on the beach have been spectacular! We have enjoyed fresh caught shrimp, a wine and cookie decorating party at the small shops filled with island crafts by local artisans and simply kicking back and being on island time.  🏝⏱

Merry Christmas 🎄 to all and Cheers 🥂 from the open road!

Dos Leggos 😄

Hey ain’t it good to know, you’ve got a friend

State by southern state I’ve had Carolina on my mind pretty much since Thanksgiving. Just as JT croons about going to Carolina in his mind, he also sings a dang memorable song about how good it is to have friends. We spent most of the week since Talladega with our great friends, the Walkers in Augusta, GA. A welcome respite from road travel complete with chillaxing, delicious home cooking and indulging on their love of us to listen to all our crazy road stories! What a blast!

Before our arrival in the Peach 🍑 State, we spend our last night camping off the grid in Talladega State Park at a remote site next to Coleman Lake. A beautiful woodland with hiking trails around the pond, wooden footbridges and waterfalls. Definitely a spot to visit again. Today we are headed back to N.C. with a weekend pit stop in Wilmington to celebrate with the newly engaged couple. What a joy and fantastic experience this Dos Leggos cross country travel has been for us. We hope we’ve kept you entertained with this blog, it’s been a fun way to share and stay in touch with home. Looking forward to rolling into Van Story Sunday and getting ready to see y’all and celebrate the holidays back in the Ville.

Cheers 🥂 from the open road! n&j

America the Beautiful

….Kathy Lee Bates

No matter how you traverse this great land we call the United States of America, by car, train, bicycle, motorcycle, horseback, tiny house on wheels, via picture book, the movies or googling, I encourage you to take some time to explore the country we call home. We can testify, it is America the Beautiful! You bet, from sea to shining sea! We’ve spent the last 5 days moving with purpose east, night to night at state parks through Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas and are currently pushing all wheels and Leggs across the mighty Mississippi into Memphis, Tennessee. The Legg boys will fly in tomorrow 👏👏👏👏❤️and we are spending Thanksgiving🦃, King style! We hope to capture the essence of Memphis, all things ribs, barbecue, blues, Elvis 🕺 and the duck 🦆🦆🦆 walk at the Peabody. We do miss our family and friends and send hugs, love, and blessings to everyone for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We appreciate this venue of communication and enjoy your comments and texts about our posts. It’s been a fun way to keep connected! We’ll check in from Graceland soon! Xo ❤️

The vibrancy of south western living paints all the words this week for Dos Leggos in Sedona, AZ and Santa Fe, NM. Cultural sites, artifacts, arts, Latin inspired food, history and a sweet sacred spirit infused our last five days on this wild, wonderful ride. Driving east again into Texas, few hundred miles closer to home. 😍

Viernes feliz amigos de la carretera abierta!

Boon docking in the spillway

“In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” …..Mahatma Gandhi

D12C63CE-E4E1-414C-BD34-0AEB8F44EAE8RVing and outdoor recreation is big time in Arizona on this Veteran’s Day weekend. Although the campground was full, the accommodating park rangers at Lake Pleasant State Park welcomed us to fill up our fresh water tank and dry camp/boon dock down on the spillway. So now we have our own lakeside retreat. Very nice indeed! Fantastic weather sunny 😎 and a dry 82 just north of Phoenix in this water craft and camping playground.

One side of the canyon is the lake and the other side desert 🌵 hiking trails. Saguaros as far as the eye can see. The life span of these amazing armed cacti can exceeed 150 years and it may take 75 to 100 years for the first arm to begin to grow!

Dos Leggos is moving east friends, taking in the desert landscapes of the American Southwest. Traffic was a nail biter through Pasedena and San Bernardino valley but the Miller Brewery had a pretty cool curbside appeal. We have passed numerous windmill farms out west but the stretch past Palm Springs, California had to be the biggest, looking like synchronized dancers across the breeze. Making the miles count! Always something interesting to see and share with y’all!

We want to thank and salute all of our family members and friends that serve and have served in the United States 🇺🇸  armed forces to keep our country safe, free, and the best and blessed nation in the world! God Bless our veterans and God Bless the USA 🇺🇸!

Happy Saturday from the open road! n&j 🌅🇺🇸

Hidden gem and delicious Zin 🍷

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”              …….Albert Einstein

What a hidden gem we found in the wine country of Paso Robles, CA. Dos Leggos are still California dreaming on sweet sunrises 🌅 over the vines, award winning nectar of that red varietal fruit and thank goodness no rattle snakes this time of year! Our first stop was Tobin James, the central feature of the tasting room was that gorgeous circa 1860’s Brunswick mahogany bar taken out of an old saloon in Blue Eye, Missouri, legendary hang of the Jesse James boys! If you join their wine club, you are officially part of the James gang! Nothing like wine touring in an RV! Nap it off in the back between tastings! Haha just kidding we were more the speed tasters…like it, buy a bottle of it! Southern California hospitality at its best even the wine kitty Herbie was host with the most. A 1/2 maine coon as big as Sam. Downtown PR proved a delight as well, found great eateries, made some new yoga friends and saw a cool car parked by the antique shop daily.

We were lucky to enjoy a Harvest Host stay in the vineyard of Rio Seco Cellars, an 83 acre site of an old movie set turned Home Run vintner. We walked the vineyard, also surrounded by an olive grove so we bought both wine and oil from Carol, the jovial proprietress. A few last fun pic plugs, congrats our friend and new city councilman, Johnny D, nod to our Jack at the Jack Creek Cafe on Hearst Ranch Estate Winery and a load of organic 🥕 carrots! My fave!

cheers from the open road! Make every day a great day! n&j 🍷🍷🥕🥕

Postcards from the edge

A look back from about mile 16 on the 26 miles of Pacific Coast Hwy to Big Sur yesterday. Almost every shot is postcard worthy! Day 27 on our journey did not disappoint. We’ve enjoyed a gorgeous and leisurely 4 days along the central coast of California. The busy fisherman’s wharf and Cannery Row of Monterey, famous for once being home to the sardine canning industry and then of course put on the map by Mr. Steinbeck. To cool Carmel where we did not see the former mayor but did take the beautiful 17 mile drive, a coastline wrap around Cypress Point, Spyglass and Pebble Beach golf clubs, the latter future host for the 2019 PGA US Open.  That will be a premium sporting event ticket indeed! 👍🏌️⛳️The open road continues to amaze us with God’s gift of natural beauty across America.

Cheers from the open road! n&j 🏖😎 🌅
